Cesca Antonelli was named editor-in-chief of Bloomberg Industry Group in 2018. She most recently served as a senior executive editor at Bloomberg News, where she was responsible for data visualization, graphics, and visual media. 

Antonelli spent 19 years with Bloomberg News as a reporter and editor in five bureaus, and ran teams around the world. At Bloomberg News, Antonelli helped build the company news coverage in the Americas and throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She was Washington bureau chief and managed the company’s global “front page,” Top Worldwide.

Before joining Bloomberg, she was a reporter at business newspapers in San Francisco and Pittsburgh.

Antonelli has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and Latin American history from the University of Pittsburgh.

Joe Breda is president of Bloomberg Law, where he is responsible for driving the growth of the company’s legal products, including its flagship Bloomberg Law platform. He joined Bloomberg L.P.'s engineering group in 2009 to work on Bloomberg Law and has held various engineering and product management leadership roles over the past decade. Prior to joining Bloomberg L.P., he was an equity partner in a boutique Syracuse, N.Y., law firm, where he practiced for nearly 14 years. Joseph has a Bachelor of Science from SUNY College, Brockport and a J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University.

Ruiqi Chen covers in-house counsel and law firm news for Bloomberg Law’s Business of Law team. Her reporting often includes a focus on racial and gender diversity in the legal industry, and she writes a Q&A series about the relationships between chief legal officers and their outside counsel. Previously, she covered antitrust and bankruptcy for Bloomberg Law’s corporate governance team, and she also interned for LinkedIn’s editorial team in New York. Ruiqi graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism with a master’s degree in journalism. 

Jennifer Couture is the vice president, chief privacy officer and privacy legal counsel for Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.  In this role, she is responsible for the management of Alexion Global Data Protection and Privacy Office. Prior to her role at Alexion, Jennifer worked in a number of roles at Royal Philips including as director and head of privacy risk and compliance office, as the North American privacy and commercial counsel and as a privacy officer in Philips Healthcare. She has also served as a director of privacy risk at Fidelity Investments and been a member of the legal department at Elliot Health Systems.

Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Suffolk University Law School.  She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and is a Certified International Privacy Professional.  

Eric Goldstein serves as the Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity for the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) as of February 19, 2021. In this role, Goldstein leads CISA’s mission to protect and strengthen federal civilian agencies and the nation’s critical infrastructure against cyber threats.

Previously, Goldstein was the Head of Cybersecurity Policy, Strategy, and Regulation at Goldman Sachs, where he led a global team to improve and mature the firm’s cybersecurity risk management program. He served at CISA’s precursor agency, the National Protection and Programs Directorate, from 2013 to 2017 in various roles including Policy Advisor for Federal Network Resilience, Branch Chief for Cybersecurity Partnerships and Engagement, Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity, and Senior Counselor to the Under Secretary.

At other points in his career, Goldstein practiced cybersecurity law at an international law firm, led cybersecurity research and analysis projects at a federally-funded research and development center, and served as a Fellow in Advanced Cyber Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, among other roles. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Georgetown University School of Public Policy, and Georgetown University Law Center.

Harvey Jang is Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer responsible for Cisco’s global privacy strategy, vision, and mission – compliance, market access, and differentiation. He leads a global team of privacy professionals, lawyers, and engineers in developing and operationalizing Cisco’s privacy policies and standards, privacy by design, and accountability frameworks and certifications. Harvey and team represent Cisco with regulators, standards bodies, non-governmental organizations, media, and customers on issues related to privacy, information governance, and data ethics.  

Harvey also serves on the Research Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), is an instructor for the IAPP’s privacy credentials (CIPP/US, CIPP/Europe, and CIP/Technologist), and is on the Advisory Council of the Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL).

Harvey earned his B.A.s in Social Psychology and Business Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional and Fellow of Information Privacy by IAPP, and Certified Information Security Manager and Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).  

Peter Karalis is an assistant team lead at Bloomberg Law, with an emphasis on technology law and data privacy. He has served as in-house counsel for governmental and private sector organizations to advise on commercial transactions, product development, regulatory compliance, and advertising and marketing initiatives. Peter earned a J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Public Communication from American University.

Damien Kieran serves as Twitter’s first Chief Privacy Officer and Global Data Protection Officer. He leads Twitter’s team responsible for the company’s privacy and data protection program. Damien has testified before the U.S. Senate on Consumer Data Privacy and the European Commission on consumer protection. Before joining Twitter, Damien worked at the New York offices of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and Weil, Gotshal, & Manges LLP. His practice focused on complex contentious matters in the high-tech space. Prior to moving to the United States, Damien worked at Google and a leading Irish law firm in Dublin. Damien received a Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law; a Master of Laws, summa cum laude, from University College Dublin; and a Bachelor of Laws, magna cum laude, from Nottingham Trent University. He served as Editor in Chief of the University College Dublin Law Review.

Maureen K. Ohlhausen chairs the antitrust group at Baker Botts LLP, where she focuses on competition, privacy and regulatory issues and frequently represents clients in the tech, life sciences, energy, and retail industries. She served as Acting Chairman at the Federal Trade Commission from January 2017 to May 2018 and as a Commissioner starting in 2012. She directed all FTC competition and consumer protection work, with a particular emphasis on privacy and technology issues. Ms. Ohlhausen has published dozens of articles on antitrust, privacy, regulation, FTC litigation, and telecommunications law issues and has testified over a dozen times before Congress. She has received numerous awards, including the FTC’s Robert Pitofsky Lifetime Achievement Award. Prior to serving as a Commissioner, Ms. Ohlhausen led the FTC’s Internet Access Task Force and headed the FTC practice group at a leading communications law firm. Ms. Ohlhausen clerked at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and received her J.D. with distinction from the George Mason University School of Law and her B.A. with honors from the University of Virginia.

Janine J. Smith joined the Hershey Company in 2015. She currently serves as Vice President, Chief Compliance, Ethics & Privacy Officer for The Hershey Company. In this role, Janine is responsible for overseeing the Hershey’s ethics and compliance and privacy programs. In addition, Janine serves as colead of the company’s Enterprise Risk Management program and directs the company’s Enterprise Resiliency program.

Janine has substantial legal, legislative and government relations experience in the public and private sectors. Over the course of her career, Janine has provided strategic advice, legislative and legal services to a variety of Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and non‐profit organizations. Janine has held several key positions, including both Counsel and Resident Consultant in the Public Law & Policy practice of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Alliances and Chief Policy Counsel for the trade association Feeding America and committee counsel to a member of the Senate Finance and Banking Committees. Janine earned her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana‐ Champaign and her JD. from the University of Iowa, where she was managing editor of the Iowa Law Review. She is a member of the District of Columbia, Illinois, and Pennsylvania bars. 

Daniel Sutherland is the Chief Counsel for CISA, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. His office negotiates complex technology agreements; provides daily operational support to the agency’s experts in threat hunting, vulnerability management, election security, and many others; advocates the agency’s positions in litigation; drafts and negotiates legislation; and, responds to audits and investigations. His office was integrally involved in the drafting and negotiation of several major pieces of cybersecurity legislation, including the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015, provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2020, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act of 2018.

Mr. Sutherland’s position builds on a career focused on issues at the intersection of civil liberties and national security.  In 2003, Mr. Sutherland was appointed by President Bush to serve as the first Officer for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties at the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Sutherland also served in the Senior National Intelligence Service.

Mr. Sutherland started his federal career as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville and University of Virginia School of Law and teaches cybersecurity law and policy at Georgetown University and George Washington University.
